Project Description

The SETS II project aims to enhance the educational attainment and employability of target groups in Somalia. It focuses on improving access to quality primary, secondary, and vocational education, particularly for marginalized groups such as children, youth, women, and persons with disabilities. The project will construct and renovate educational facilities, provide training and resources for teachers, and support the development of inclusive and equitable education systems. By addressing the educational needs of vulnerable populations, SETS II seeks to promote social and economic development, reduce poverty, and foster long-term stability in Somalia.

Project Development Goal

All learners are equipped with the attitudes and skills that will help them access opportunities and achieve their full potential.

Project Objective

Increase access to equitable quality primary and secondary education.
Enhance participation of youth and adults in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) linked to employment opportunities.
Strengthen the capacity of public institutions to lead, monitor, and manage the education system.

Project Approaches

Increased Access to Education: SETS II aims to increase access to quality primary and secondary education, particularly for marginalized and disadvantaged groups. This includes constructing new schools, improving existing facilities, and providing scholarships and incentives.

Improved Quality of Education: The project seeks to enhance the quality of education through teacher training, curriculum development, and the provision of learning materials. It also promotes the use of technology and innovative teaching methods.

Effective school and TVET institutions promote quality teaching and learning outcomes to all learners regardless of background, ability or gender;

Enhanced Employability: SETS II aims to increase the employability of youth and adults by providing vocational training (TVET) linked to employment opportunities and economic development.

Strengthened Education System: The project aims to strengthen the overall education system in Somalia by building the capacity of government institutions, promoting community participation, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and quality.

Project Outcomes

SETS II aims to create a more sustainable and effective education system that can deliver quality education to all learners. By focusing on inclusion and equity, the project seeks to ensure that no one is left behind and that all learners have the opportunity to reach their full potential. And by supporting flexible learning and coordination among stakeholders, SETS II aims to create a resilient education system that can adapt to challenges and continue to provide education even in times of crisis.
