Project Description
The Multi-Year Resilience Programme (MYRP) for Somaliland is designed to enhance access to quality, inclusive, and safe education for marginalized and crisis-affected children, including those with disabilities, in Burco, Buuhoodle, and Gebiley Districts. The program aligns with global and national education priorities and is structured to provide a full package of interventions that ensure sustained access to learning for vulnerable learners, particularly displaced and out-of-school children.
The program’s approach includes the construction of temporary learning spaces, rehabilitation of existing schools, provision of school furniture and supplies, teacher training, school feeding programs, psychosocial support, and gender-responsive teaching. The MYRP also integrates system-strengthening strategies to build the capacity of education authorities, promote gender equality, and enhance the resilience of schools and learners. The program is expected to reach 85,000 learners, ensuring inclusive and sustainable access to education while fostering community engagement and local ownership.
Project Objective
Increase access to education by constructing and rehabilitating schools, providing school supplies, and implementing cash and voucher assistance for marginalized learners.
Enhance safety and protection in schools by ensuring gender-segregated sanitation facilities, safe drinking water, psychosocial support, and child safeguarding measures.
Improve learning outcomes through teacher training in crisis-responsive pedagogy, inclusive education, and curriculum development.
Strengthen education systems and governance by building the capacity of local education authorities and promoting gender-responsive policies.
Foster resilience in learners and communities by integrating climate-smart education, disability-inclusive learning environments, and school feeding programs.
