Project Objective
To improve the educational attainment, safety for Somali girls and boys affected by crisis, contributing to resilience building within an increasingly peaceful, secure and democratic environment.
Project Outcomes
Outcome 1: Increased equitable access to primary and ABE education for emergency affected children;
Outcome 2: Improved learning outcomes for crisis affected children;
Outcome 3: Increased gender equity and equality;
Outcome 4: Protective learning environments established for emergency affected children and youth;
Outcome 5: Community resilience is strengthened, and sustainability of education sector is enhanced;
Outcome 6: Improved capacity of Ministry of Education Culture and Higher Education (MoECHE) and MoEs to manage Education in Emergencies;
Outcome 7: Effective management of the Multi-Year Resilience Program (MYRP).
Project Objective
Girls and boys (aged 6-14) and youth 3000 (aged 15-20) affected by emergencies, with an emphasis on girls and young women;
Girls and boys and youth from pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities;
Girls and boys and youth from IDP households. According to the Education; Cluster Response Plan, 2019 an estimated 1 million school aged IDP children and 800,000 school aged children are food insecure and need education support;
Children living with disability and youth.

Project Approach
Resilience and Continuity of Education: Bridging between humanitarian aid and development is a strategic aim of the project– according to its 2018- 21 Strategic Plan, Education Cannot Wait helps to enable the nexus of humanitarian response and long-term development, operating “at humanitarian speed with development depth”.
Centrality of Quality Learning in Safe and Protective Environments: The intervention will seek to provide education services that are resilient to the climatic and conflict shocks. The program has been designed to strengthen inclusion and accountability to the most vulnerable children; communities and donors by ensuring the education needs of children in protracted crisis are met.
Gender Equity and Social Inclusion: To ensure schools are safe and supportive, this MYRP approaches will make schools safer, child friendly and provide a better environment for learners by engaging different stakeholders at school and community level To ensure schools are safe and supportive, this MYRP approaches will make schools safer, child friendly and as well as government. Gender equity and social inclusions is also responded to across numerous activities.
Localization Agenda and Accountability to Affected Population (AAP): In aligning itself to the Grand Bargain, the program has been designed to be multi-year to ensure greater predictability, sustainability and continuity in responding to the needs of education for various age groups in Somalia.
