Project Description

ASPIRE Somalia is designed to enhance access to quality and inclusive education, vocational training, and livelihood opportunities, particularly for marginalized communities, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), women, and children. The project aligns with the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to education as a tool for peacebuilding and national development, contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4, 5, and 8).

ASPIRE seeks to improve learning outcomes by creating safe and inclusive learning environments, strengthening teaching quality, and integrating life skills and technical vocational education (TVET) for youth employment. The project also emphasizes gender equity, disability inclusion, and climate-smart livelihoods to promote resilience and sustainability. It builds upon previous interventions such as SEAQE2 and Together for Inclusion (TOFI), engaging community stakeholders and government entities to ensure long-term impact.

Project Objectives

Increase equitable access to quality education by supporting primary schools, technical secondary schools, and TVET centers across Somalia. Enhance teaching quality and teacher retention through continuous professional development and improved working conditions. Promote youth employment and entrepreneurship by offering demand-driven skills training and business start-up support. Strengthen civil society engagement in education governance to ensure sustainability and local ownership. Improve resilience and well-being of learners through psychosocial support, school feeding programs, and protection measures.
